FACES BEHIND COFFEE

Today I was walking down a outdoor mall to pick up my morning coffee and I saw this picture.  I realized that all the coffee we drink everyday is produced and handled by migrant workers in someway.  Not just the labels, but also the brands we use.  Faces Behind the Label wants all of you to keep being aware of these workers.

FACES BEHIND THE GIFTS

As we opened up the presents that we were so fortunate to get this year. We were reminded of all the “Faces Behind the Labels”.  On the back of these products, migrants from, Mexico, Thialand and China made these products that my family will use everyday.  Let us remember on this day that we need to recognize the GIFT of Love and Caring for others.

FACES UNDER THE CUP…

About 2/3 of the people in the world drink a cup of coffee each day.  This  made me realize that there are alot of cups made by someone.  As I drank my cup of coffee today, I looked at the bottom of the mug and saw that it was Made in Mexico.  Someone made this mug for me to enjoy a hot cup of coffee to start my day.  I am sure that a Migrant worker made this product.  “Faces Behind the Label” is recognizing these workers and what they do for us each day for our lives to be more comfortable.

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

“An Act of Awareness”.

• Perform this act of awareness on December 18^th.
• Gather your friends, community or workplace on this day.
• Wear your shirts inside out (labels out) for the day.
• This will recognize the, Faces Behind the Labels. (Migrant Workers at the average of 15yrs. – 19yrs. old that are forced to leave their rural villages and move to the urban cities  and work under conditions that they were not aware of.
• Share the testimonies you heard or experienced at one of the Faces Behind the Labels events.
• Blog and post pictures and videos on the www.facesbehindthelabels.com  community website. 
• Tell your story why you performed this Act of Awareness. 

 

“Faces Behind the Labels” act of awareness is providing community centers that provide education, counseling, vocational skills, intrest groups and faith base leadership training.  We are  “training the leaders of tomorrow to care for others today”.
